A first first . . . .

No it isn’t a typo! What I’m referring to is The Youngest’s first bento of first grade! Did you ever notice that when you type the same word over and over it starts to look wrong? Well that’s how I feel right now! Anyway, a few weeks ago The Youngest started first grade, so of course she needed a special bento for her first day-

In it she has a ham and cheese sandwich star with a cheese star on top.  I wrote “1st” with a food doodler marker.  She also has cucumber slices with ranch dip in the Hello Kitty container, sliced grapes and a few Golden Oreos for dessert.  It was a big hit and a total conversation starter at lunchtime with some of the children in her class that she didn’t know.  She came home with an empty lunchbox and a whole list of new friends that she had made! Gotta love it when a sneaky mommy plan works!

Now for a few more of my ”lost” bentos!

Here’s a very rare glimpse of the mysterious lunch of a twelve year old.  Due mostly to the unGodly hour I am preparing them, my fuzzy brain rarely gets it together enough to snap a photo.  This one was too good to pass up though. In it The Oldest had fried rice, with hot dog ”tulips” and carrot blooms.  In the bottom tier she had grapes, the rest of the carrot and some crazy fizzing candies we picked up at the local Oriental Grocery.

This next one is a simple sandwich bento prepared for The Youngest.  In this she has a stacked ham sandwich, cucumber moons with ranch dip in the yellow container, a small tangerine and some filled strawberry Panda cookies.  Super fast to put togather, still cute and most importantly- YUMMY!

Wow- six months with nothing and then- BAM! Two in one day! Hopefully I can keep up the pace!

Have a great night and an excellent weekend,

Stephanie
