I cannot believe it’s been more than a week since my last post. The Youngest is feeling much better, thankfully and I have quite a few pictures to post but first things first. I have spent most of this last week watching the devastating coverage of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, I am glued to it thinking about all the families there as well as here in the U.S. that are being effected by this. I have never been touched by such disaster and can’t even imagine what they are all going through, I am wishing that there is something I could do and feeling very useless in my small little corner of Earth. Apparently many of my bento friends have been feeling the same way, they have absolutely lit up Twitter with their concerns and well wishes for others, some of them live in or near the affected areas and many have family or friends there as well. I know that I logged on soon after the initial earthquake in hopes to find some information about these lovely women and their families, all of whom I have never met. Thankfully everyone is safe, but all have been affected in some way or another, I hope they all know they are never far from my thoughts. Even The Youngest, who is 6, expressed her worries while watching the news, saying, “Mommy do you think all those bento ladies are ok?” Leave it to a child to put what I was thinking into the simplest terms! In response to all of our worries and feelings of helplessness, the bento community has pulled together some ideas to help, one of which are some Ebay auctions in which 100% of the proceeds go to GlobalGiving’s Japan Relief Effort, you can find them by searching Bento4Japan. There are only a few listings up right now, with more to come. I hope you’ll visit, especially if you’ve been inspired in anyway by my blog before.
Thanks for your help,
