Blah blah blah, escaped from the birthday blah blah and bentos too blah blah. Part 2

Sorry for the strange title, didn’t feel like typing out the obnoxiously long title of the last post (Part 1) so I just wrote that, yeah I’m lazy.  Sue me. ;)   I promised a giveaway, I will deliver one, just trying to get all my shizel together before I launch it.  Its my first one so I’m being kinda squirrely about it, sorry.  I do have some fabu bento pictures to give you along with various other food pinups.  (Some people call it food “porn”, I guess I’m a prude and this is a family blog. So . . . . pinups it is.)   First I’ll show you the salad The Girls and I prepared to go along with our Valentine’s Day dinner.

It’s just a garden salad with some yummy homemade creamy Italian dressing that we dressed up with red pepper hearts.  Aren’t we clever?

Next I have some shots of The Youngest’s birthday party, did I mention that her birthday went on all week?  You see first it was the actual day, we had a little in school party with Italian ices for the class, that evening was spent at the local hibachi restaurant (her choice), the next day we had close family and a few friends over for cake and presents and then finally the following Saturday we had her “kid” birthday party at the local children’s science center.  It was awesome, all the kids loved it.  They made phlubber and crystal gardens, learned about chemistry and explored all their little exhibits.  It was a great day.  I think I have also mentioned that The Youngest is currently on a Super Mario Brothers kick, so I made Mario “mushroom” cupcakes and Yoshi “egg” treasure balls for take away favors. Here are some pictures for you to enjoy!

Next I’ll leave you with the remaining “lost” bentos:

This is a “sidecar” bento, since The Youngest had some pasta in a thermal food jar as her main dish this day.  In it she has some cookie sticks covered in chocolate, some Trader Joe’s fruity flakes, carrot flowers and mini cucumber slices with ranch dip; and some clementine pieces with blueberries.  All the supplies in this photo came from All Things For Sale, aren’t they cute?  If you click on the link in my side bar and use the checkout code “Bentofabulous” you’ll get 5% off your order and I’ll get some credits so I can host more giveaways!! Click it, you know you want to!!

Next is a little snack bento for The Youngest, it has a little Laughing Cow cheese and some baby Club crackers to spread it on, a tiny clementine, and some mixed raisins. Kinda plain, but she loved it!

Here is a lunch bento with Trader Joe’s chicken drumettes, yogurt covered pretzels, a tiny clementine, some shredded cheddar cheese and ketchup in the little red cup.  The Youngest just loved all the little animal picks standing on the chicken nugget mountains, she showed all her friends at the lunch table and said they wanted to take them home with them.  She said she calmly explained that she was not allowed to give her picks away because “they’re her Mom’s special collection”! Too funny, the girl knows how serious I am about my bento supplies!

This next lunch (and the last for now) is and adaptation of a sandwich we found in the fantastic book, Funky Lunch.  I highly recommend this book, it’s full of great ideas and most of them are fairly simple to execute.  This is a PB and J sandwich cat with cucumber whiskers, apple ears and blueberry eyes all adhered to the bread with honey, there is a BabyBel cheese carved with a fish, skinny cucumber spears with ranch dressing in the doggie cup and some mini fruit kabobs of apple, strawberry and blueberry skewered on coffee stirrers.  See you do have bento supplies available to you, you just have to keep an open mind!!  This was also a hit and it was completely gobbled up!

So you all have a good night,  I hope to have the giveaway launched sometime tomorrow.  We are off early in the a.m. to go to a children’s museum about an hours drive away, then to an Asian store called H Mart (which I am EXTREMELY excited about) and then to dinner at a fondue restaurant.  Should be an exciting and interesting day!  I’ll be sure to fill you in on it!

Hi! I am a new follower and a newbie to blogging with a little over a month in. My blog is not as technical as all of you and I think I messed up the link that lists all the other bloggers but I do have the button and a comment section for Social Sunday. It is beginning to look like I am going to have to pay someone to fix my blog because I won’t be able to keep up if I don’t. I want to be a reviewer and maybe later on have giveaways but with the way I fixed the blog, it may not be possible. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I am following you thru GFC and would love a follow back! I do have GFC at least. Whew, thank God for that. Have a great night.
