That’s what we have today, Mother Nature dumped about a foot of snow on us and she’s not quite done yet! The Girls were very excited that they didn’t have to go to school today, instead we shoveled, made a snowman and drank hot chocolate with marshmallows. It was an excellent day, to say the least, even The Husband stayed home from work, so it was a real family day! Now the homemade spaghetti sauce is bubbling away on the stove and everyone is curled up under blankets on the couch watching T.V., ahhhhh. Oh, and maybe this weekend The Youngest will have her first sleigh riding adventure, I’ll keep you posted!
Here’s a snow picture for all of you who may not get snow where you are. As you can see we have plenty to spare!
And in honor of our snowday a special bento:
The Youngest had this at home, but asked if I could give her the exact same thing tomorrow for school! In it she has a Snowman maple turkey and white American cheese sandwich, with grape eyes, blueberry mouth and carrot nose of course!! There is also a strawberry, orange wedge, some snowman marshmallows and a Lindt snowman chocolate. Yumm!!
I don’t often show The Oldest’s bentos. There is no reason for this other than she has to be on the bus at an ungodly hour in which the lighting and my brain don’t often cooperate with. This particular morning though, I happened to be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, so I snapped it quick before she ran out the door. In the top tier she has sweet rice topped with sesame salt and turkey soboro. It’s delicious, you can get the recipes in the Just Bento Cookbook, which I know I mentioned before. It is excellent, I highly recommend you pick it up. In the bottom she has English cucumber slices, a mini York peppermint patty and clementine pieces.
This is The Youngest’s lunch that same day, Monday, the lighting and color is a little strange. Sorry, all the snow outside is really messing with the lighting in my kitchen! In it she has some homemade cake, sliced strawberry hearts and freeze dried banana pieces. In the other tier there are chicken nuggets with ketchup in the cute little apple.
Snack that day was pretty simple, some blueberries, a BabyBel cheese, and a clementine.
Tuesday’s lunch for The Youngest reflected the weather report’s prediction for snow, she has turkey and cheese on a sandwich thin, along with two mini cakes and grapes on some snowman picks. She currently loves these sandwich thins, so you might be seeing alot of them!
Snack that day was a Babybel cheese, Annie’s fruit snacks and some blueberries (which are in the cute little cupcake container!).
So far this week lunches have been pretty successful! Hopefully the snow will get cleared out and we’ll have some more opportunity for exciting lunch. In the meantime I have some news, I am officially an Amazon Affiliate. If you don’t know what this means, I can get a small percentage in credit for any purchase made through this blog. So if you like anything you see in the little buttons on the bottom, click it. If you make a purchase it goes towards my credit and with it maybe I can purchase some cute bento things for a giveaway in the future! I can’t wait to host one of those!! I’ve also compiled some of my favorite bento things in a widget to the right, as well as some great things for your upcoming Valentine’s Day bento! I’m thinking I may have to get some of it myself!
Have a great day!
