Waiting for snow.

Yeah I said it, I’m waiting for the snow to come.  We were supposed to get some inches yesterday, leading into the evening, but it amounted to a whole lotta nothin’. I was disappointed. I was hoping to be snowed in just a little. My hopes were dashed. Now, the weather people are saying we will be getting some overnight, 3-5 inches worth. Well they better deliver, because The Youngest wants to go sleigh riding and she’s never been and now she’s bent on doing it soon. We’ll see, as of right now there is not even a tiny flake. Crap.

As far as bentos I don’t really do them on the weekend, but I did try my first hand at checkerboard apples,

I think they came out okay for my first try, definitely have some tweaking to do.  If you’re interested there are some pretty cool apple cutting techniques click here to try.  The bunnies are really simple too, and peeking out from some lettuce leaves they look super cute!

Friday was pizza day at both of my kids’ schools, surprisingly though The Youngest chose to have bento lunch instead!  I was shocked!  Here is was she had:

There’s a Frog Prince ham and cheese sandwich with a fruit leather crown, I made these with a Lunch Punch. These are awesome and very easy to get excellent results fast!  I do recommend flatting the bread slightly though with fatter slices.  I used sprinkle decorations and Food Doodlers for the details, the red splotch by the mouth is the tongue.  I know total failure, next time I’ll use fruit leather for this as well, not sure what I was thinking!  She also has the last of this weeks green grapes along with celery sticks and peanut butter in the little yellow container.  She loved it, freaky, messed up tongue and all!

This is in a box that I got in Borders on clearance for 75% off, with a matching water bottle also on sale. Yay me!

In case you were wondering the eyes are little sugar decorations, which I know you can find  on Amazon, but I got mine at Michael’s! Here is what they look like:

We were very excited to find them!

For snack that day The Youngest also brought a bento:

She thought this was just great, bluberries for the sky, grapes for the green grass and a little house cup with Teddy Grahams living inside!  There’s a dog pick playing in the yard to eat the fruit as well as a flower pick.  She told me she wants to bring this again because all her friends thought it was so cool.  I love that.

So that’s it for now, wishing for snow and hoping to cook a little for the bento freezer stash the rest of the weekend.  Fingers crossed!

Have a great night,

I love your ideas, and I would love to send my son to Kindergarten with food artwork for his lunch, next year. My mom used to write notes on a napkin for my lunches, but this is so much better, haha!

I’ve observed that in the world the prneest moment, video games will be the latest trend with children of all ages. Many times it may be extremely hard to drag young kids away from the video games. If you want the very best of both worlds, there are various educational video games for kids. Interesting post.
